Application Rules « Thread Started on Jul 20, 2007, 1:54am »
Application Rules You must read all of these rules. Believe me, we'll know if you don't.
Read the story: Yes, we're saying it again, you need to read the story of what happened to Hogwarts. Without that information, your application will most likely not be developed enough.
Use the application form we have given you: We have the application forms with the codes. Please use them.
Do not post an unfinished application: If it isn't completed we will delete it. If you need some place to store your application there are plenty of places on your computer.
Post one application at a time: This will not only save room on the board but also leave other characters open for application. This mostly applies to canon characters but even if the characters are original we would like you to post only one application.
Only one Canon per player: If you are new to our website and are interested in the few canons we have we ask you only apply for one. We have a couple of reasons for this:
1. Our canons are important for plots and we would like to know that you can stick around to play the characters. We have had quite a few people disappear for months. 2. We have very few canons and we would like people to have a chance to play.
After you’ve been on for a few months and are interested in another canon can make a request.
No Mary-sues, aka perfect characters: Humans are not flawless. *(gasp)* We know. Amazing as it may seem, even you, yes you, have flaws. So please, make this fun for the rest of us and try not to make your character good-looking, smart, well-rounded, down-to-earth, and whatever else goes into making a perfect person. This rule not only includes female characters, but also male characters and villains. Yes, there can be perfect villains as well.
No transfer students: We will not accept characters that have transferred from the Americas or Hong Kong or where ever. Hogwarts is a school for magical children in the UK (i.e. Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England). Your students can be born in another country, but they must be citizens of the UK before the age of 11 before they can be accepted at Hogwarts. However, if you provide a reasonable explanation as to why your student should be accepted as a transfer, please feel free to discuss it with us. Keep in mind that this does not guarantee you will receive the answer you want.
No random species: Keep their race as human. No elves, no pixies. Anything other than that, again, has to be approved by an admin. If you think we won’t approve it, then don’t ask. Just be realistic!
No serious mental problems for the students: We've found that it can be very hard to RP a person that is manically depressed/bi polar among other things. If you would like to create a character that is depressed, then you will have to prove your RPing abilities before we will even consider letting you have a character that complex. With that, there will be no suicide attempts by students. We think that's unnecessary and messy to try and RP.
No Pictures in place of the Description: While we're not going to say that it isn't great that you have pictures that you base your characters off of, we just don't want them in place of your character description. Use the picture an avator and for your signature, but do not put them in your application.
Student applications: The application forms we have provided for you have a list of requirements. Please follow them.
Professor Applications: Like the students applications we have a list of requirements for you to follow when filling the application out. Unlike before, our professors will not be required to write out a syllabus or start classes. We find that it gets very old and is generally a waste of time, in our opinions. The professors will have their courses but they will not hold classes.
Please feel free to ask questions: Don't be afraid to ask current members or us Administrators questions. We know new sites can be confusing, and there are usually a lot of things going on. If your confused about something, just ask, we won't bite, we promise .
